Interior Design Studio | UK wide | Timeless interiors, thoughtfully composed, with a dash of the unexpected.

Character and charm are unmistakable, you walk in Character and charm are unmistakable, you walk in and just know.

The kitchen/dining room in this 17th-century cottage on the Suffok Coast had all the right ingredients: ancient beams, a brick fireplace and, for a cottage, good ceiling height. But it felt dark and heavy rather than inviting. Our job was to reveal the charm, not reinvent the whole thing.

We painted the dining area floor in a light stone colour to lift and lighten the space, continuing with one tone darker on the dining-side cabinetry. In the kitchen we changed the flooring to a Limestone and painted the kitchen cabinets "Garden Green" leading the eye through from the dining area. Open shelving and horizontal stripe Roman blinds in the kitchen, paired with hand-printed damask-inspired linen curtains and a rattan pendant lampshade in the dining area, give it a relaxed and informal feel. Classic references done in a way that feels current.

The result is a kitchen that feels open, warm and the kind of space you actually want to be in — cooking, eating, staying longer than you'd planned.

The cherry blossom has truly exploded in Suffolk t The cherry blossom has truly exploded in Suffolk this week. Frothy clusters stopping us in our tracks. But not all blossom is created equal and, for us, it's the bolder cousin — plum — that steals the show.

Where cherry mostly offers soft clouds of blush and white, plum can bring deep magenta, rich burgundy and reds so vivid they almost don't look real. And unlike cherry, it has an actual scent. It's sweet and strong, often reaching you before you've even spotted the flower.

Timeless is beautiful but plum is unexpected.

It's something we think about a lot with interiors. The softer, safer choice is always beautiful but the rooms that really stay with you have that extra something.

If you're looking for a home that makes your heart leap a little — maybe let the plum blossom persuade you and get in touch!

Shopping with clients is one of our favourite part Shopping with clients is one of our favourite parts of the job and it’s never just about the shopping.

Sometimes we need to understand what speaks to them — to see how someone reacts in the moment, what they’re drawn to, what makes them pause. You can learn more from watching a client shop than from any questionnaire.

Sometimes it’s about sharing what only we can access. Introducing them to designers, makers, and collections that simply aren’t available outside of the trade. That moment when a client sees something and says “I didn’t know that existed” — that’s the magic.

And sometimes it’s just about the relationship. Walking alongside someone through a journey that can feel overwhelming, making it feel exciting instead. Letting them into our world a little.

One of our favourite places to take clients right now is Line Up in Chelsea — a beautiful destination for British fabric and wallpaper designers. It’s the kind of place that reminds everyone — us included — why this industry is so special.

This is a privilege we never take for granted.
We’d love you to come shopping with us!

Fringing, headings, edging — curtain trimmings are Fringing, headings, edging — curtain trimmings are the final layer, and sometimes the most transformative detail.

They frame the window. They introduce rhythm and softness to the fabric, reinforce the colour palette, and bring in texture in ways that feel natural and unforced.

Alternatively they can add drama — an unexpected splash of richness or drama at the edge of the cloth that changes the whole feeling of the room and can take it it a different direction.

It's a small decision with a long reach and the kind of detail that's worth a closer look. Which is your favourite?

The last few days have finally felt like it’s time to fling open the doors and let the outside in. When we design a room, it’s not just about how it looks — it’s about how it feels and how it works. Here, it means a layout that draws you outside, where even the most mundane tasks like the washing up come with a view of the garden beyond.
That’s always the goal — designing spaces that earn their keep in every season. This one certainly does.

Can you believe the chintz we all know and love wa Can you believe the chintz we all know and love was once contraband in Britain? No wonder we love it.

Banned in the early 18th century to protect the domestic wool trade, this gloriously patterned Indian cotton was simply too desirable to suppress for long. People smuggled it, coveted it, and eventually — it won.

Centuries on, and the chintz craving continues. Not only the faded country house version that we know and love, but something more confident and considered — bold florals alongside plain textures and geometrics, pattern mixed with contemporary furniture. Deeply traditional, yet surprisingly fresh in the right hands.

It’s exactly the kind of thing we love at Studio Bellew — the familiar made unexpected, the traditional but with a twist.

Thinking about bringing some pattern and personality into your home? We’d love to hear from you. Link in bio

Wishing you a very Happy Easter from us all at Stu Wishing you a very Happy Easter from us all at Studio Bellew 🐣

May your weekend be filled with the joys of Spring and a little bit of chocolate too!
On a day dedicated to things not being quite what On a day dedicated to things not being quite what they seem, we're celebrating one of our favourite design tricks — the hidden door.

A bookcase that swings open to reveal a study. A panelled wall that conceals a bathroom. A mirror that's actually a door. When done well, these moments of surprise delight at every encounter — the domestic equivalent of a magician's reveal.

There's a practical case for them too. A hidden door allows a room to feel complete and uninterrupted, the eye finding nothing to snag on. Trickery of the very best kind!

Happy April Fool's Day!

Walking into a property and imagining its potentia Walking into a property and imagining its potential – how spaces can open, connect and flow – is one of the most exciting parts of what we do.

This particular project had all the ingredients — a 17th-century cottage with a 1970s extension, full of potential but not quite working as it should.

The back door was the most-used entrance in the house but it opened straight into a utility room. There wasn’t space for a porch, so we created the feeling of one instead: beautiful curtains that draw across the doorway, giving the space a sense of arrival. Functional enough for coats and boots but considered enough to feel like a proper entrance hall rather than somewhere you simply pass through.

A colour palette of @paintandpaperlibrary warm stones and creams as the base, with Blue Gum adding a grounding teal to joinery and woodwork to match the @abrahammoonsons wool curtain. The @fannyshorter ‘birds beasts’ terracotta fabric on the blind adds warmth and a touch of the unexpected — pattern used with confidence in a small, hardworking space.

The result is a utility room that’s practical, considered, and worth lingering in.

Every project begins the same way — with a convers Every project begins the same way — with a conversation. A chance to listen, to understand how you live, what you love, and what you want your home to feel like.

Some clients want to be involved at every stage — the shopping trips, the samples, the decisions along the way. Others prefer to hand it over entirely and trust us to get on with it. Both are equally welcome and we work the way that suits you.

What stays the same is the process: considered, structured, and guided by what’s right for your home. From defining the brief and design direction through to managing the build and overseeing every last detail at installation.

What we create together is enduring and designed for how you actually live, not following a trend.

If you’ve been wondering what working with an interior designer actually involves, simply drop us a message to start the conversation.
